What ApplyPilot collects
Nothing. The extension has no backend. We don't operate a server that receives your resume, your API key, or the answers we generate. There's no account to sign up for and nothing to log in to.
What stays on your device
- The raw PDF or DOCX file you upload (stored in your browser's IndexedDB)
- The parsed profile we extract from it
- Your provider choice + API key (encrypted with WebCrypto AES-GCM)
- Cached answers to repeat questions, if you enable Remember Answers
- A small per-tab cache of detected forms (cleared on tab close)
What leaves your device
When you click Autofill, three things go out — and they go directly from your browser to the AI provider you chose:
- Your parsed resume (without the raw text blob)
- The job posting's title, company, and description excerpt
- The form's field labels and types
api.anthropic.com, api.openai.com, generativelanguage.googleapis.com, or api.deepseek.com depending on which provider you picked. Their privacy policies govern what happens next. What we don't do
- No analytics on by default
- No third-party scripts loaded by the extension
- No telemetry or error reporting back to us
- No auto-submission of any application, ever
Permissions, plainly
The extension asks for
activeTab, scripting, storage, and sidePanel. It runs automatically on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, and LinkedIn jobs URLs. The generic Scan This Page action requires you to click — we use activeTab so we don't have to ask for every domain in the world up front.Deleting your data
Open the settings panel (gear icon in the popup) and click Forget API key, Remove resume, and Clear answer memory. Or uninstall the extension — Chrome will wipe its storage automatically.
